I had a good swim. Never over exerted myself. Did not swallow too much water. Sighting ws good. This was an IM PB for me. Surprising since I did not focus on this portion of the race.

I blew up on the second lap. The heat and the hills, plus the constant vibration from the road just ate me up. My feet were hot, so I stopped to remove the inserts, my aero drink busted so needed to stop and fix that, and my arm pad slid out of position so I could not ride aero for 1/3 of race.

The heat really got to me and I had to stop running other wise I would have passed out. Felt woozy too.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was not prepared for the heat, amount of hills and road conditions. I need to choose my next race in terms of time of year, ability to replicate race conditions in training, and then location.
I need to build strength.
I will take some time off from IM, do shorter races, build strength, and build speed. IM is still in my future, just not the near future.

Event comments:

The race is great. The volunteers and fans amazing. I will come back - prepared.
