Swim
Comments: OK swim, With the wave of ~ 100 people it sure made it interesting for the first couple hundred yards. Fell into a rythm fast, but was not able to find any feet to latch on to What would you do differently?: find some feet Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Good ride, but had plans to go about 2 minutes faster. With the humidity and the headwind, I think I did about as good as can be expected. Overall, I am pretty happy with the ride Transition 2
Comments: Great T2, I remember seeing one other bike in our desginated area of Transition, so I racked it, put my shoes on, grabbed my visor and race belt, and high tailed it out of there....I had to run someone down! Later that day, my wife told me that coming out of transistion, I looked like I was on a mission and cruising What would you do differently?: nothing, I think this was one of the best transitions I have done, and by far, the fastest in my wave Run
Comments: I was running people down with a pretty good pace coming out of transition and feeling that I was giving it my all. About 6 min into the run I started looking for the mile marker....nothing....6:15....nothing...6:30....nothing. I started thinking there is NO WAY I was running slower than 6:30's, and prayed that I either missed the mark or they didn't have the markers posted. I got to the turn in the course, which is two miles, and was at 12:40, so I was running 6:20's to that point....right on my desired pace. The next mile was 6:40, and i was passed by 2 people from my wave. and then the wheels fell off after that. I am not sure of the next 2.3 mile paces, but I was passed by another 3 people For about the last .25 miles I was looking over my shoulder hoping that there was not going to be someone there, becasue I did not have anything left...thank goodness there wasn't and I was able to coast into the finish line After talking with a buddy, he asked what I ate on the bike....I slapped my forehead, and stupidly, said "nothing" I think I burnt all of my expendable energy on the bike and first two miles of the run....If I would have eaten the gel on the bike AND would have run 6:20's, I would have either finished in second place by 2-3 seconds or won my AG with an all out sprint to the finish.....lesson learned! What would you do differently?: Eat a damn gel on the bike Post race
Event comments: Overall, I love this race. There is a sentimental relationship I have with it as it was my first triathlon, and being it is so exceptionally run, it is hard to NOT sign up for it! Last updated: 2010-04-01 12:00 AM
