Flat tire! Around mile 5. Took around 20 min to change. Really need to work on my tire changing split if this is going to be a frequent occurrence. Also ejected one of my water bottles with around 200 cal of Heed still in it. I expected around 1:15:00. Given 1:16:34 add on a tire change and winds, can't complain. Still got first place in Athena for the bike out of some miracle.
What would you do differently?:

I just bought new wheels and didn't change the tubes in them before the race. Stupid mistake. Now Mike is threatening to put gator skins on. I hear some people can change a tire in 3 min. I should work on that.

Goal was to do the 10k in under one hour, 2:30 under goal!

Weather was perfect for the run. Light, sometimes strong cool breeze perfectly regulated body temperature. Wonderful fall jog.

Event comments:

Organization of the event was a little weak. They ran out of pizza (then ordered more), only had soda and water to drink post race. I didn't know what time I was starting until packet pickup. However, the drink stations and volunteers were wonderful.

I'm happy with my performance despite the flat. By time I could have gotten first place in my age group as well, so that's exciting. I might need to think about competing in age group next year instead of Clydesdale/Athena. I like Athena, but my results are not usually included in the overall results.

Performance:
Course: country roads with a huge crown. Right ankle started to ache around 4 miles in and tried to find better positioning on the road. Drink stations were positioned for EVERY mile of the course. Fantastic.
