Run
Comments: I went for a Neg split on this run, wanting to keep a good even pace to preserve for the bike and final run. I felt great on this run. What would you do differently?: maybe pick it up slightly. Transition 1
Comments: Decent transition. slipped shoes off, helmet on, glasses on and spare tube/etc in and gone. What would you do differently?: TRI SHOES TRI SHOES TRI SHOES Bike
Comments: Well. The rain was not nice, it was cold and did I mention it was down pouring rain with strong cross and head winds. I was passed by several people on Tri bikes. I am at a disadvantage with my road bike and the wind. I feel like I was giving up near the end of the bike leg with the strong winds. What would you do differently?: TRI BIKE, more time on the trainer. Transition 2
Comments: I was able to get one shoe off on the bike, but my hands were so cold I skipped the second one. What would you do differently?: TRI SHOE TRI SHOE TRI SHOES Run
Comments: I felt a slight cramp after the bike in my right calf, I was concerned but I think it had to do with the cold weather from the bike. It subsided almost immediately and I picked up the pace, keeping a nice constant flow. I neg split the run and ended up passing about 5 people. What would you do differently?: In short races like that, I would like to pick up a steady pace of under 6:38 from the start and about 3/4 mile from the finish give it all I have. I felt like I had energy left over after the race. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, tried to hide from the down pouring of the rain. Changed from the wet clothes inside a steelcase warehouse and warmed up. What limited your ability to perform faster: no Tri Shoes, no Tri Bike. More time on the bike is needed to compete with others on tri bikes. Event comments: For the weather of the day, I felt the event was done as best and safely as possible. I enjoy the 3D events and look forward to them through out the rest of the year. Ate a bowl of Honey Oats with 2% milk and a banana around 7:30am. Not my typical routine, however on the road and was offered great hospitality.
Arrived about at about 9:00am. A lot of people already locked and loaded. The weather was misting, but seemed pretty controlled.
Jogged around, went over race maps as I did not scout the course first.
