Run
Comments: Took our group around 6 minutes to get through the corral to the actual start line. Once we did we started on a slow jog, waved and yelled at my parents and continued on our way. By the first mile we were already starting to get sweaty but the crowd was still pretty thick so we continued our slow run. Hit first aid station and I took both water and gatorade to get a head start on hydration. I have never worn both shorts and short sleeves for the start of this race so I could tell already it was going to be a warm one. We started our run/walk plan around 25 minutes and got to wave at my parents again at mile 3.5. They got some really good pictures around that point. The bad thing is my legs were starting to feel achy already way too early on. I pretty much knew at that point it was going to be a tough run. Kept at it and kept a very nice and even pace. Joan started taking pictures at the mile markers so that was amusing for parts of it. Mile 5 crept up fast on us and I kept at the water and gatorade as I could feel how sweaty I was getting still. Mile 6.2 water stop I dumped water over my head and it felt great. Also saw my parents just after that spot and took some more pictures! Around mile 7.5 started taking my hammer gel but I did it slowly because I hadn't been doing that a lot during training and didn't want to mess up my stomach. Just after that the potty urge started up but was able to hold off until closer to 9.5. My buddies walked and I caught up with them after waiting forever in the line. My legs were starting to really become weak and tired around here and the 3 minute run efforts were becoming a challenge. Crossed over Oneida Street for the 5th and final time and got out into the wide open. Most of the course up to this point had good amounts of shade but after that we had to run in the open sun and that was brutal. Came back to the point where the marathoners and half split, saw them continue on and just a bit afterwards, some of the really fast marathoners were re-merging with us. Kept at it, ran into the Lambeau Field tunnel and out around Lambeau. Heard Mom call for me, spotteded her, gave high fives to the little kids and decided to run it in the rest of the distance, which was out of the tunnel and to the finish line. Crossed it with a smile for the photographers! What would you do differently?: More training, more training, more training... but see below for more! Post race
Warm down: Got a bottle of water, my medal and tee shirt and pretty much downed the whole bottle. Walked around, got my checked bag, and took a picture as a group. Then went and found my parents. Quick grabbed some food and water and then took the shoes off that were hurting my feet and we walked back to the car, which is plenty of a cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Better and more training. I probably shouldn't have biked as much as I did this week but bike training is picking up so I couldn't help it. Event comments: I really do like Sean Ryan's events. The only problem is the extra people are bringing on restrictions like for post race food and drink and the quality and price of the pasta dinner. Who wants to pay $16 for a pasta dinner! But I will keep coming back because it is a great hometown event! Last updated: 2010-04-04 12:00 AM

Got up way too early like 4:40 am because I had such nerves for this one. Had some water and a Diet Coke (my form of caffiene) and did some stuff around the house to distract me. Got out of the house with Mom and Dad around 5:45 and drove to Lambeau. Waited in the car until more people showed up.
Walking from a local elementary school parking lot to Lambeau... that is enough of a warm-up. My group waited around 30 minutes in the port-o-potty line and I decided it wasn't worth it! Got in the start corral about 3 minutes before the gun went off!
