Pre-race routine:

Egg sandwich, coffee, banana, lots of water.

  • 350 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 00m

Getting socks, bike shoes, and helmet on = no problem. Trying to suck down some beverage was more difficult, I think because of the adrenaline.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - I think I did great for my first time!

  • 11 miles
  • 19.01 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s

This felt easier than T1. slipped off shoes, slipped on shoes, racked bike, helmet off - clipped bib belt while starting to run.
  • 22m 40s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 19s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

Just gotta practice brick
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just jitters maybe...but, they were pretty much gone once I was on the bike. VERY nervous during the swim, and T1. Got into a groove and felt confident as race progressed.

Event comments:

Felt great! So proud of myself! I don't know if any race is going to beat my first race. I really have an overwhelming sense of accomplishment right now... :)

This included T1. So not exactly sure....but I would assume my T1 was about a minute, so swim should be around 6:37
Course: 7 laps in the pool - snake swim. Thought my timing chip thing was coming off my ankle, so I kept messing with it.

Course: Passed two people, got passed by one. There were cars on the road, and a couple of them were jerks and tried to run my over. As I was coming into transition area and getting ready to get off bike to go over mat, cars were in front of me trying to get into the gym...this slowed me down considerably and it should be better organized.

Course: Legs felt SO heavy...stopped to walk at water stations twice. About half way through, I started counting my cadence, and I've notice this has been helping me recently with speed and motivation.
