Run
Comments: Super fast, flat course. I put in my time from last year so I started in the red wave but probably should have started in the yellow since I was passing a few within the first few miles. I pushed to the front of the wave so I wasn't zig zagging around everyone and got right into my groove. Pushed the first mile at 6:45 and spent the rest of the race trying to hold that pace. That was way out of my comfort zone but I figured if there's any time I could PR, it would be now. When I passed the final water stop, the last guy in the row yelled "HEY! You need to catch the guy in the suit!" I thought to myself, "man why don't YOU come out here and catch that guy!?!?" At mile 9 I spotted him, picked up my turnover and pushed ahead of him. I must have heard "holy crap look at that guy, he's in a suit!" about 50x in the final mile. Sprinted the final 200m and almost puked when I crossed the finish line. My goal was 1:14, ended up with a 1:09. Extremely happy with the results. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Perfect conditions, pacing and drinking. Post race
Warm down: Stretching while waiting for the group to come in. This was my wife's first 10 miler (she ran the Army 10 miler, but didn't really train for it so she ran/walked it), and I was very proud that she ran the whole thing! She had a goal of 10 minute/mile and just about held it! I was very happy to hear she did so well and had a good time. Took the metro back to a friend's place to shower, then went to Liberty Tavern for the brunch buffet and beer. Best recovery meal ever. What limited your ability to perform faster: My training? I don't think I could have physically run faster. Event comments: I really enjoy this race, as long as I don't end up in line for the port-o-pottys and miss the start like I did last year =) Last updated: 2010-04-06 12:00 AM

Got off the metro around 7:10 and walked down to our meeting spot. We had a group of about 15 that were running it so I met up with everyone around 7:15. I remembered that the port-o-potties that were 1/4 mile after the starting line are never busy, so I jogged over to warm up the legs and jogged back.
