Comments:

Perfect T1. Feeling great at this point.
Bike
  • 39m 40s

Comments:

Road was slick from precipitation although it never rained. Tires were overinflated for race conditions and I took teh 2nd turn too fast. Bike slid out from underneath me and I crashed. Got back on and slipped up some hills. Volunteers were standing right on turn. Nobody further up to tell us to slow down.
What would you do differently?:

Fill tires to 100 psi when road is wet. Know the course ahead of time.
Transition 2
  • 00m 44s

I rocked my T2
Run
  • 21m 30s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

First hill came .5 mi into the race and it was a killer. Rolling hills after that. Race info instructed us to stay on the grass and off the street past the stadium, but race leaders ignored this. No course officials on run.
What would you do differently?:

Happy with my run considering the hills. Hip started to hurt from the crash.
Post race
Warm down:

1 mile run

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wet road conditions for bike. Was first race on my new Felt B16 TT bike and I was bummed that I crashed.

Event comments:

Course was awesome! Swimming in the springs was fantastic and the run course kept my interest. Bike would have been better if I hadn't crashed early. Organization could have been better. Very few people knew what side of bouys they had to swim to. After my bike crash I remarked to the student volunteers (that were all chatting together at the turn) that someone should come up before the turn to let people know it was coming. All I got was a smart remark. Transition area was unsecure, which was a little disoncerting and post race was pretty tame. Can't complain about the price although I would pay much more for better organization.
