Comments: Ran up to the transisition the wrong way because I was following Scott. Really didn't matter, just had to run down the road a little farther. Sat down on my T-mat to get suit off and put socks on, that worked well and I will do that again. Overall T1 was pretty smooth. What would you do differently?: Not follow Scott off the beach! No really...nothing. ![]() Bike
Comments: Was on Scotts wheel most of the course. We team time trialed for a while in a futal attempt to catch Chris. God, that man is a machine. Lost Scotts wheel around a sharp turn with a quick uphill right after the turn and knew I needed to slow a little and pick up my cadence if I really wanted to be able even think about being able to run. Missed the 3 mile finishing loop with the big hill as I had already turned into T2 before I realized that I missed it, so I blew it off. What would you do differently?: Nothing....good ride. Not be a knucklehead and miss the last big hill loop on the course. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Really smooth T2. Shoes went right on, Knee brace, visor, and off I go. HR was right in line and legs seemed to be moving the right way. ![]() Run
Comments: Decent run. Legs came around after the first mile of running uphill. Didn't have anyone to run with because I was an airhead and missed the last 3 mile loop of the bike, which forced me into "my" proper pace. HR was good, Legs were ok. Slight feeling that cramping was going to start in my right hip, but that was bike related from hammering into the headwind to hard. Was able to keep my cadence high enough to prevent any cramps. What would you do differently?: Become a better runner.....if that is possible? ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked to the end of the driveway and looked for the beer cooler! Glass of chocolate milk and a beer, breakfast of triathletes. Stood around and explained to everybody that would listen how "fast" I really was and listened to them tell me how great they really were. It was a typical bonding experience of any tri, and a lot of fun. What limited your ability to perform faster: This body is not built for triathlons so change my body type for starters. If that can't be done then I should train more. And run some more. And bike some more. Maybe drink some more when that does not work. Got up around 6:00. Ate a bannana, a blueberry bagel with butter, a glass of choc milk. Loaded the coolers, bike and other gear in the truck and hit the road. Stopped for a cup of joe and finished that with a Zone Perfect Bar on the drive. It turned into a caravan to Chris's once we got north of Saukville. Like 5 Donkmobiles on the road all in a "Convoy"
Ahh...walked back from the parking lot after I unloaded the gear and moving the car. Put on my wetsuit. That seemed to be enough.
