Swim
What would you do differently?: Sign up for a triathlon later in the season. Transition 1
Comments: So tired, running into transition, forgot to start unzipping! Almost at the bike before I had that "duh" moment. A little slow on the transition as a result. Bike
Comments: Felt great on the new bike, my P2 Cervelo Dura Ace. Rides like a dream. Practiced mucho hills, so did well for first tri of season. What would you do differently?: Incurred a 2-minute time penalty for "position," along with a dozen other people. Had to look this one up...seems none of us stayed to the right after passing. Seriously? You dinged us on that? So my "real" finishing time was 2:49:25, but because of that stupid penalty, listed as 2:51:25. Didn't affect my age group ranking (still 2nd), but now only by 7 seconds! Talk about a close one...linger just a little too long in transition, and I would have lost it. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Felt good on the run - my strength! Wicked side cramp ride side at mile 6 - need to stretch that diaphragm out more while on the bike...happens every time. First race from 4 months of no running over the winter due to a stress fracture - only running now for a little over 2 months - felt really good and foot seems to be O.K. What would you do differently?: Stretch out more on bike Post race
Event comments: Only two people checking in for packet pick-up. Transition was closing, and there were still people standing in line! Kayaker told a friend she had to go around the red buoy (and made her go back), when we were briefed the red buoys were for sighting, yellow buoys for turns. Same info needs to be communicated to kayak guys. Very sparse water support for a very challenging swim. Last updated: 2010-04-06 12:00 AM

Shake at 0-dark thirty - skim milk, whey protein, flax seed, almonds, honey, and here's the secret - tablespoon of coconut fat.
At 0900 - instant oatmeal, hot tea.
Stand around and gripe about the choppy, cold water.
