Pre-race routine:

Had a Cliff bar about 45 minutes prior to the race
Swim
  • 00m
  • 300 meters
  • / 100 meters
Comments:

Felt really good for the swim, but the lanes were too thin for passing so we were to tap the person in front to let them know that at the end of the length to let us by, one girl was fine and let me pass without issue, but the second girl I tried to pass wouldn't let me by the first time... basically had to slow right down and do the breast stroke for 2 lengths.
What would you do differently?:

Tap the person's foot harder!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

As I was just wearing my swim suit for the swim I had to try and get into lululemon pants for the rest of the race which slowed me down considerably! Had a very helpful volunteer assist with putting on my shirt though which was great!
What would you do differently?:

Buy a 2 piece tri top and shorts to eliminate having to put on pants.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 15 kms
  • 0.00 km/hr
Comments:

Ride felt pretty great - first time riding with shoes clipped in and it made a huge difference! Didn't have nearly enough water, but was able to have my gel pack as I was riding.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Lost a lot of time in this transition - my fingers didn't want to work the laces of my running shoes and so I felt like I was fumbling a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Take off gloves before lacing up shoes, get the quick lace thingys (technical term, I know!)
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.5 kms
  •  min/km
Comments:

My legs just didn't feel like they wanted to get going right away, but I pushed through it and just kept going - wound up catching 3 or 4 people on the run which made me feel better, but overall, I really need to work on my running.
What would you do differently?:

Again with the going faster!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not being in good enough shape, and not doing enough specific training.

Event comments:

Had a great time, and felt pretty good for my first foray into the world of triathlon - also helped me to recognize where I really need to work.

Next time I need to remember my watch! Doh!
