Swim
Comments: Got "lost" on the first leg. I was going a good 15-20 degrees off course. I think I probably added about 50m to my swim. The water was GORGEOUS, and not overly choppy. The wave had about 50 or so people in it, so it wasn't overly busy. All in all, better swim than I could have asked for. What would you do differently?: Better sighting. I need to work on that so that I can have a better, more efficient swim. Transition 1
Comments: Can't really expect it to go much better What would you do differently?: Not put my sock on upside down. Bike
Comments: Great ride. Felt awesome the whole way through. Was pushing just the right amount. Stayed aero the whole time minus the corners. Had a few sips on the way back just to wet my mouth. Legs were fine throughout the race. What would you do differently?: Nothing that I can think of. Learn to put my shoes on on the bike (get tri shoes...) Transition 2
Comments: GREAT transition. Nothing could have gone better. Worried that my shoes unclipped, but they didn't. Bike racked great, shoes slipped on well. Run
Comments: Ran fairly slow. Probably left a little bit too much in the tank. Could have ran a bit faster throughout. Get out of your head when you run, and just do it. Don't focus on what you are doing as much as you did. What would you do differently?: Not let limitations get in my head. Someone told me that 6th place was just ahead of me. I got it in my head that I couldn't catch up. I didn't give myself a chance, and I had a fairly slow run. Post race
Warm down: Quick walk around, some stretching and a dip in the lake. What limited your ability to perform faster: My run. Swim and bike were better than I could have asked. The run was definitely my weakness today. Work on sustaining faster running for more distance. Event comments: Great race to do. A lot of fun, well organized, and a good beginner course. Hope to do better next year!!! Last updated: 2010-04-09 12:00 AM

Woke up early (5am), and had oatmeal, a banana and english muffin with PB & honey. Got to the race around 6:15 or so, before most of the volunteers. Got into transition, set up (bike was left the night before) and walked around. Figured out the entrances and exits. Kept well hydrated, and visited the porta-johns a few times.
Quick bike ride, feeling out the dirt/gravel exit/entrance for the bike portion, a quick run around the camp, and a bit of stretching. Finally, just before the start, I went for a quick 5 minute swim. Then the horn blew!
