Swim
Comments: Went hard right off the start to get ahead of the crowds a little. Managed to get on some feet for a little bit, but not great. Performance was top 10% in the AG and overall, which is relatively unusual for me. Swim was probably a little long, since the fastest split was 1:23/100 done by a guy that set 3 world records in breaststroke just 2 years ago. He could hold 1:05/100 in that event! Transition 1
Comments: Slow transition. Fumbled a few seconds with the speedsuit. Fumbled a few more seconds with sunglasses and helmet. Should have been at least 10 seconds faster, though it wouldn't have helped this year. Bike
Comments: Pretty decent AP/NP. Should have been 30 seconds or more faster, but I managed to drop a water bottle on the course. Even though I didn't see a single marshal, I did the right thing and turned back for it. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition here. Only 2 guys in the AG were under a minute. Run
Comments: Don't think I could have gone harder today. I was sucking wind pretty hard, on the edge of a side cramp. Post race
Warm down: Got a massage right away. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not working out at all since Lonestar and not doing enough speedwork for this type of race before that. With reason, this time. My AG was crazy competitive this year. In past years, any time in the 53-minute range would have pretty much been assured at least 3rd. This year, the winning time was under 50 minutes and that 53 and change would have only gotten you 6th. Seems like most of the strength was in the bike. It's pretty much unheard of for my swim to place higher in the AG than my bike. Event comments: A fun early season race. They changed the run course this year and the resulting finish line area is much less congested, which was their goal. Food is pretty mediocre: generic bulk burgers and bags of chips, cookies, etc. Onward and upward. The Couples is next where my partner and I should place in our division, which isn't that hard since there are tons of them. The real focus now is on Jack's Generic in August. I swear I'm going to crack the podium for my AG at some point. Doing it there is a long stretch, but not impossible. Last updated: 2010-04-09 12:00 AM

Overcast
Overall Rank = 65/838

Typical stuff. Got there early for good transition.
Ran about a mile with some stretches and strides.
