Run
Comments: Went out at the right pace. Heat was a bit much, but no stitches or cramps on this one. Just went slow, knowing I had to save it for the other 2 legs. What would you do differently?: Train smarter. I need to get my HR down to a reasonable rate. I need to build up some strength in the legs and probably a bit more in the core. But really, I need to run more. Transition 1
Comments: I took my time in transition in order to get a bit of rest--walked to bike, sat down to put on shoes and gear. I planned it as such, but probably could have moved quicker. What would you do differently?: I should practice doing this quicker. If I had been even 30 secs faster I would have beat the person in front of me in my age group. Bike
Comments: Need to train for the wind because it will always be there. Last week, same wind on the course and same pace for me. Work on strengthening quads because they were cramping up; left hamstring very tight by the end. What would you do differently?: Train better. Do the Tues night time trials more often; do the Apple course rides with the group more often. Transition 2
Comments: see above Run
Comments: Allowed myself to walk up the hill. Within the first 1/4 mile of running, my quads and hamstrings were cramping. I shuffled along, figuring I should just keep going because stopping could have created a full on cramp. Walked through water stations, dumped water on myself. Probably a little dehysration but not sure since I thought I did well with this. What would you do differently?: Practice the transition. I only did 2 bricks before this event, one the week before and one the week of--should be doing it for several weeks before the event. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat was big as was wind. I wanted to do it in less than 2:30 and I did, so good. I didn't want to push myself too hard because it was my first one and my training was a little haphazard. Following an actual training plan would be good. Event comments: Stay for the door prizes. I got 3 free months at Gold's and a reduced monthly rate! Last updated: 2010-04-10 12:00 AM

5:30 up and ate a cup of shredded oats, oj, tea. Sipped on a waterbottle of Powerbar endurance until race time. Good-- no stomach issues. Race started at 8:30.
Got there by 7:15 am, set up transition, hung out and talked to people.
