Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 5:30am and had two blueberry pop-tarts. Not the best choice but works great for me. Started drinking water right away to get hydrated.
Event warmup:

Got to the race site around 6:15am for a 7am race start. Once I got my timing chip I went indoors to stay warm. Stretched a little and used the bathroom. Ate a PowerBar around 6:45am then went over to the start.

Comments:

Run was good. This was my best race at pacing. Even when I wanted to speed up I would just hold back and keep my 7:30 pace.
What would you do differently?:

I finished with some left in the tank. I should have pushed harder around mile 11 til the finish. Think I left a few minutes on the course.
Post race
Warm down:

After getting my finisher's medal I spent some time chatting with a few running buddies. Ate 1/2 a donut, some water and gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need more speedwork into my routine.

Event comments:

Overall race is awesome. TON's of water stations and plenty of food, massages and events afterward. It's unreal to believe that this was the first year for this race. It's VERY well run. The only thing that could be better is a timing mat at the start. Everyone's time is a gun time due to this.

Performance: Good
Course: Course is almost an out and back. At mile 5.5 or so there is a loop then its back on the same way as out. It's flat to down for the first 6 miles with just a few small hills. At mile 7 there is the largest hill on the course. After that hill it levels out give or take until mile 9 or so. There is a hill getting back to two notch rd. It's real windy on two notch so drafting helps. The last big push is at 11.5 miles in. You have to run UP the on ramp that does a 180 degree turn. Then crest the brdige. At the peak of the bridge it's 12.5 or 12.6 miles so you have the last 1/2 mile push and you are done! Great finish at the fountain in Sandhill's.
