Pre-race routine:

It was cold & windy so I sat in a hot tub until it was time to jump in the pool. I figured it was better than being tight & cold.
Event warmup:

I was bad & need to work on this. If anyone has any suggestions to improve my warm-up let me know!
Swim
  • 14m 47s
  • 750 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

In top 5!!! Had a good rythm. Stretched my stroke! I did mess up. I thought I saw people get out that were ahead of me but when I got to T1 I was the only one sooo I added 3min to my time. No one said anything. So I kept going.
What would you do differently?:

I was confused because we were suppose to do 4.5 laps but it was more like 5 laps. I was confused & did only 4 laps.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Forgot to get time do to weather condition. So this time is included in the bike.
What would you do differently?:

I was glad I put on my headband with ear warmers! Socks? I don't know if I should have worn them because they were soaked when I was done. Glad I didn't wear glove.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 56s
  • 18 miles
  • 13.51 mile/hr
Comments:

Stayed positive thoughtout. Kept thinking of the tailwind ahead. It was fun finally going fast.
What would you do differently?:

I did some spinning and only did 1 bike ride. Need to get my group to start riding this season.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Had pants in a backpack to protect from rain. I did have a hard time putting them on a bit. I am glad I put them on because it helped me stay warm. Took off head band & put on hat while taking off on run. Legs felt numb!
What would you do differently?:

Pick a Transition space close to the dismount.
Run
  • 42m 55s
  • 4 miles
  • 10m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt pretty good during the run. I have done some runs in the rain so it wasn't a big deal. Because there are no hills where I live I did end up walking up some towards the end.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on running. Take it slowly d/t shin splints during the winter.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around & stretch when I came home for 15 min.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind & Rain!! Not biking that much prior.

Event comments:

It was wet & rainy so everyone pretty much left as soon as they were done. It was a college meet. I was in the last heat Open women 25& up.
