Swim
Comments: Really happy with this swim. My pace was under 2:00 / 100 yds which is pretty darn good for me. I was hoping to finish in less that 20 minutes and I killed that. I was actually catching swimmers in the previous waves. I was able to swim the whole thing with only about 10 - 12 breaststrokes to get my bearings and sight. Swim overall felt really good, and was easier than I was expecting. What would you do differently?: Nothing, continue training to improve time. Transition 1
Comments: This is embarrassing. The swim must of taken more out of me than I realized as I remember breathing heavily and struggling to get suit off and shoes on. Oh well this leaves room for improvement for sure. What would you do differently?: Maybe practice more, try catching my breath during early part of bike ride. Bike
Comments: This ride felt pretty good and I can't complain about my avg pace. This is better than most of my training rides for this distance. I passed a number of riders and was passed by a couple as well. I was able to power up the small climbs and really moved pretty well going down. What would you do differently?: More training on the bike and I will be able to compete on the bike much better. This was my first competitive ride and have only been on the bike for about 3 months. Transition 2
Comments: Another slow one. Run
Comments: This was tough. I really struggled almost from the beginning. I was having a tough time with my Asthma at this point and my inhaler took a while to kick in. I was able to run the 1st 1.25 miles but after that I was employing a run walk strategy to finish. I probably walked close to a half mile from that point on. I did save enough to sprint all out for the last 1/3 of a mile to the finish, and caught a fair number of runners at the end. The run was much more difficult than I anticipated which just means I have lots of room for improvement. What would you do differently?: Run the whole thing! More training will allow me to improve my performance. Post race
Warm down: I bunch of stretching, Ice Cream and fruit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. This was my first race tri ever and only my 2nd race ever. When I started training in April I could barely swim 100 yds, run a mile, and had not ridden my bike in over 3 years. So given where I started I am extremely happy with this performance and look forward to seeing improvement the rest of this season and next. I have lost about 80 lbs since last summer and I still have more to lose as well so that will help improve times as well. Event comments: Was a great race, well organized. I will be doing the Half Iron distance next summer!! Last updated: 2010-04-11 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:30 to get ready. Left the house around 6:00 for about 1.5 hr drive.
Packet Pick-up was very quick and I was able to get to Wegmans to buy something for Breakfast. Had a bagel and blueberry muffin.
Took my time getting to transition and body marking. Se everything up and felt pretty good about the race. I was in the last wave so I had plenty of time to put my wetsuit on and relax before starting.
Really didn't do much to warm up a quick jog and a bunch of stretching was all.
