Swim
Comments: Slowest swim ever and not sure why. Didn't feel that slow when I was doing it. Did catch myself sometimes just cruising and not really pushing hard - need to focus more on maintaining a good hard effort. What would you do differently?: Swim faster... Transition 1
Comments: Felt pretty good. No socks and that helped. Wet suit came off easy after the run from the water. Glasses on, helmet on, gel flask in jersey pocket and I was off. 5th in AG 30th OA What would you do differently?: Work on multi tasking. Get the helmet on at the same time as getting my legs out of the suit. Bike
Comments: Hills and me just don't agree. This is fun ride with some speedy downhills but I am no good at riding hills. Definitely a focus area for me. I passed all of two people on this ride (one was just before the dismount area). Got passed by MANY people! Didn't feel like a bad ride overall, just feel like I could have done more. What would you do differently?: The bike needs to be a focus area. Just like the swim, need to learn to push myself here. Transition 2
Comments: Put socks on for the run so that chewed up a few seconds but I thought it would be worse. Didn't forget to take my helmet off this time so that was good! 11th in AG 94th OA What would you do differently?: Need to work up to the 10k distance with out socks to get this time down. Run
Comments: Don't have any good answers here. Came off the bike feeling really good - better than I usually do. Legs felt good, heart rate felt good. Then I slowed down and couldn't make my legs go faster. The out part of the loop is a slight incline - don't know if that took more of a toll on me than it should have but there wasn't any more there. What would you do differently?: Some of this is mental - need to HTFU and push it. Might need some more intensity in my run schedule. Post race
Warm down: Said Hi to the kids and some friends. Drank some water and waited for Kristine to finish her run (her relay team took first place!!). Then we hung out and talked with friends, ate, drank water and gatorade and waited for the awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: It just wasn't there on this day. Bike is a weak point and needs some focus. Some of the run is just getting past the mental part. Event comments: This is a great venue. Run is almost entirely in the shade and you run to the base of a tall waterfall...very scenic. Not crazy about having to do two loops but it is what it is. Bike is challenging but fun with some of the down hills. Coordination by Jane Miller is outstanding. This was my second time doing this race and I will do it again. For all the compalining about my performance, I had a great time at this race. Last updated: 2010-04-12 12:00 AM

When the alarm went off, I was in a deep sleep. It took me off guard. I couldn't figure out why it was set so early. Then it clicked...RACE DAY.
Shower, cup of coffee, bowl of oatmeal, car loaded and go. Piece of toast with peanut butter and another cup of coffee in the car on the way.
Set up transition, body mark, get chip, walk around and talk to folks. Nice seeing more and more people I know at these races. No real warm up. Got in the water and dipped my self to fill up the wet suit. Then waited for the horn.
