Pre-race routine:

woke up at 330am left from Northern New Jersey at 500 am. I ate two bananas, coffee and lots of water.
Event warmup:

lots of stretching and a 1/2 mile light jog .. tried to stay warm.. it was windy and chilly .
Run
  • 20m 27s
  • 3.1 kms
  • 06m 36s  min/km
Comments:

I had a great run it was my fastest 5k pace ..
What would you do differently?:

try to start a little bit more towards the front of the pack. I was boxed in a few times which I had to slow down and wait for a safe location to pass.
Transition 1
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

my fourth duathlon ever and still getting used to clipping in. takes me longer than I want to clip in and get moving.
Bike
  • 1h 10m 50s
  • 30 kms
  • 25.41 km/hr
Comments:

My bike performance always irritates me as I get passed numerous times like i am standing still. I have only been ridng a road bike since june of 2009. I need to be patient and let my training improve this area.
What would you do differently?:

more training with longer distance rides. Play more scratch offs and hopefully win and buy a faster bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m
What would you do differently?:

move faster
Run
  • 21m 23s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt pretty good coming out of transition.. This was my fastest run out of T2
What would you do differently?:

try to run faster..
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and did a few light stretches and beat myself up about my slow bike ride.. I should have been celebrating my finish and other accomplishments.. which I eventually did with a massive burger and large beer shortly after.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my bike training and or my entry level bike..

Event comments:

Race was great, I was pleased with my run times since I broke some personal records. The Race was well organized and the volunteers were really friendly and encouraging the entire time... I am looking forward to next year and improving.
