Swim
Comments: Started out with my traditional open water panic attack, but after Tarzan swimming the first half, I found I was able to put my face down and really swim for the first time in an open water race. So that was a huge breakthrough for me. What would you do differently?: At this point I'm really happy that I was able to finish the swim really swimming. Transition 1
Comments: I had forgotten to get my socks out because of some confusion while setting up transition (the rack actually broke when someone hung their bike on it). So I had to dig out my socks and that of course took some time. What would you do differently?: Remember to get my socks ready. Bike
Comments: I discovered that I really didn't have much in me on the smallest little hills, I think I expend too much energy on the swim. What would you do differently?: Do less flailing around during the swim - when I flip onto my back I have to kick more and I think that costs me legs-wise for the rest of the race. Transition 2
Comments: This was pretty uneventful, although it seems like it shouldn't have taken so long. What would you do differently?: Just try to move faster. Run
Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank a bottle of water while waiting for Peter to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being a headcase about the swim causes me to waste a lot of energy. Event comments: I was really impressed with the level of organization of this race especially considering that its only in its second year. There were a ton of volunteers and they were great. Very well done. Last updated: 2010-04-12 12:00 AM
