Pre-race routine:

OK, this is my first olympic so not sure what I was going to do, Woke up before the alarm, drank my coffee and ate some oatmeal.
Event warmup:

10 min on trainer
10 min run
5 min swim
Swim
  • 27m 58s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 52s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was a good swim for me, I have been having google issues, not this race, sighting was right on, effort just right.
What would you do differently?:

maybe go a little faster...
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I could probably go faster here, my watch said my transition was around 2:30 so I could definitely improve here.
What would you do differently?:

move a little faster
Bike
  • 1h 18m
  • 20.83 miles
  • 16.02 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a great time on the bike, as usual, was with my training partner the whole race, she was ahead of me for most of the bike but I had a little more left to leave so I passed her and was ahead until a bus turned right in front of me and I had to put the brakes on. It poured rain coming down the last hill, didn't bother me much.
What would you do differently?:

not much
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

considering I was dripping wet and very muddy this transition it went pretty fast. There were no transition times and I forgot to hit my watch, probably about a minute.
Run
  • 1h 00m 6s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

I have been working on my run and I am very happy with this result, never have run a 10K race before and my goal was an hour and only went over by 6 seconds. Still need to keep working because this is where I get passed by my friends!
What would you do differently?:

well my quads tend to tighten on the run, not sure how to fix this problem, kind of feels like they may be cramping but they don't. I think I need some quad strengthening???
Post race
Warm down:

walk a little, got some nutrition, kind of dropped some on the course...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

first time at this distance, train more!

Event comments:

Well I had a excellent race, couldn't have ask for a better first Olympic, I think that in a couple more years maybe a half iron could be possible???

Oh I did win a two night hotel stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai! BONUS!
