Swim
Comments: Goggles fogged early on and sighting was a problem. After I rounded first bouy I turned over and cleared my goggles quickly and was fine the rest of the swim. I think first stretch would have been a lot better if I had done this early on. My own fault. What would you do differently?: Anti-fog in goggles, and don't hesitate to break stroke to clear goggles if having hard time seeing clearly. Transition 1
Comments: I would like to try having shoes clipped on bike and do running mount, but I wonder what you do about sand on your feet getting into the shoes this way? At the moment, I feel most comfortable just putting shoes on and running with bike. Rinsing feet off worked just fine using the water bottle. What would you do differently?: Transition was SLOW, need to try to be faster. Maybe take some nutrition at this point. Not sure what was so slow about it. I think my "ratcheting" bike shoes add to time since I need to wind them tight as well as removing wetsuit. This is my first tri with a wetsuit, and getting it off was a slow point. I will just need to concentrate on being faster here. Disappointing transition time not that I see what it was, but it didn't feel that slow. This should end up being the only wetsuit legal tri for me this year, so this transition will be faster next race. Bike
Comments: I probably could have pushed a little harder on the bike, but was worried about the run as this is the first tri I have done in years. What would you do differently?: Perhaps get my speed up just a bit more, I think I had a little more left in me. Transition 2
Comments: Accidentally racked bike backwards, but realized it right away and turned it around. Only took a second, but just wasn't thinking. Good transition over all. Probably could have been faster, but it was fine for this event. Moving 310XT from bike to wrist was very quick and easy. What would you do differently?: Rack bike correctly first time!! Run
Comments: Good run, not my best, but I am happy with it. Felt it in my hamstrings, thought I was going to cramp up early on but didn't happen. Flats were fine, hills were a little tough. What would you do differently?: Get some hill training in. Post race
Warm down: Just a little walking. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hill training on bike and run. Not in as good of shape as I thought I was. Event comments: This is my first Setup Events race. I think it was put together as well as any other events I have been to, if not better. Last updated: 2010-04-14 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:35am (alarm radio went off at 4:30, but I was too deep into sleep to hear I guess.) Stayed up too late night before, but I have a hard time sleeping before a race. Did fast morning routine, loaded final stuff in car, made my breakfast smoothie and headed out the door at 4:55.
Did a 5 minute run just to loosen up a bit. Also swam a few strokes right before the swim lineup.
