Run
Comments: It was a good run. Thankfully the sun never really came out. The day turned out to be quite warm, and if the sun had come out during the race, it'd have been a lot hotter. The entire course was non-shaded. I had a good run. I didn't do as well as I could have, but even the time I was shooting for (under 22:55) would have netted me the same 3rd place slot I acheived with the 23:40 time. So I'm satisfied. I ran the best race I could and I gave 100% of effort. What would you do differently?: I wouldn't have gone out so fast. My first mile was 6:38 followed by two 8:00 miles. Had I gone out at 7:20 or so, I'd have done better. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, drank LOTS of water and gatorade. Had a coke to replenish my sugar. Relaxed a little bit with Renee and Jessica and then they left for a bike ride, so Terri and I waited for the results and wow! We both placed third. I was super impressed by my best friend Terri for still running fast enough to place third, even though she's been thru a breast cancer surgery and five chemo treatments. You go girl!! What limited your ability to perform faster: My pace in the first mile. Event comments: Lots of prizes after the race (I won a water bottle, Terri won a heart rate monitor) and the results were posted very quickly. Wish they'd chip these races though. Drank a Creatine/Energy drink, took my usual pre-race energy supplements, drove out to the race site, picked up packet, and put on my race gear. Terri and I met up with Renee and Jessica, chatted for a few minutes, and then went out to the starting line.
Not much warmup for this one. Kinda jumped around a little, loosened up, etc. I don't warm up much for a 5K anymore. 5K's ARE the warmup lately. LOL
