Swim
Comments: Tough swim for me, I had planned to go sub 30 minute. First issue was choppiness, I caught several mouthfulls of water, second issue was all the waves in front of me. I was in wave 17, for some reason, many people in the several waves in front of my waded out and started really slowly, so by the time I made turn one, I had already caught the wave in front of me. That would get worse as things progressed. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, I know the race has to have waves of people, and I know I can't control the weather. Transition 1
Comments: I have never tried a flying mount onto the bike and I was not about to start today. I got my shoes on and ran in them and stopped just after the mount line and clipped in. What would you do differently?: I am considering some better equipment in the future, such as tri specific bike shoes which do not require socks. This will improve my time. Bike
Comments: Bike course had a change recently that started us off going through a neighborhood, this area was pretty tight. Organizers were clear in the briefing to take it easy through here, but there was still some dummys crouched down in super aero nearly killing people. What would you do differently?: Better bike split than my goal time, I was happy. Transition 2
Comments: No flying dismount, just too risky for me at this stage in my career. I did was not 100% prepared for the transition though, I probably wasted about a 5 seconds thinking about what was going on. What would you do differently?: Learn flying dismount, practice the actual transition more at home. Run
Comments: I am coming off an injury, so I was excited to run at all. That said, aid stations were GREAT. All well stocked with ice/water/gatorade. Several had gels and sponges and other stuff. What would you do differently?: I started stuffing ice into my shirt and pants at mile 1. It worked great, it also made my shoes so squishy that foot pain was becoming an issue. Maybe I should consider running with no socks and wearing better draining shoes. Post race
Warm down: Stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Running injury, transition training. Event comments: Very well done race. The only thing that caught my attention as being wacky and did actually hinder my performance by at least a minute is that once transition was clost at 6:45, there were no bathrooms available to the athelets. Fine if you are a pro starting at 7:00, but my AG went at 8:04, I was hydrating until 7:30. Where were all those hydrating athletes supposed to relieve the pressure? Last updated: 2010-04-19 12:00 AM

Hometown race for me, so very low stress pre-race. Woke up at about 4:30, normal breakfast of peanut butter bagel and banana, took a shower. Went out to transition for about 5:30 and was all setup waiting in line for bathroom when transition closed at 6:45 am.
Had a gel and 32 oz of gatorade while waiting for my wave (8:04)
No warmup, usually I would swim a little, but the announcers kept telling everyone to get out of the water.
