Pre-race routine:

Left home at 7. A lot of back roads but had good directions. Arrived and the wind was blowing and the lake looked pretty rough. Long line for morning packet pick up.
Event warmup:

Set up transition and about 10 minutes before the start went into the water to get wet. Wetsuit felt fine despite not having had it on for 7 months.

Struggled in first leg. The chop affected me and could not get a nice rhythm. Felt fine for the remainder.

Felt a lot faster than last year. Only 2 minutes improvement from last year, yet I felt a lot better. Aero helmet started to hurt on the second lap.

Given how little training I have done with my foot injury I felt good. My run time was only 8 seconds slower than last year when I had felt very fast. I only felt my foot a little on the run. Got into a sprint with somebody at the end and so felt like I finished with something left.

Warm down:

Put my feet into the lake.

Event comments:

I like this race a lot. I would far rather do a race like this than do Nations or some other big city tri. They could have used a few more volunteers at the drinks tables. Overall an outstanding event and I'll be back next year.
