Total Time = 2h 54m 30s
Overall Rank = 486/1487
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 47/114
Pre-race routine:

Wake up at 3AM, have a hefty dose of scrambled eggs, plus a bowl of hranola with milk and head over.
Event warmup:

None really, apart from stretching my arms on the boat.
Swim
  • 34m 39s
  • 2640 yards
  • 01m 19s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Pickup the swim speed and sight better
Transition 1
  • 08m 5s
Comments:

The mini transition at the beach went smooth, and I just ran for the bike in my run shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 02m 7s
  • 18 miles
  • 17.39 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

I still had power to push more downhill and go more crazy fast downhill but was saving power for the run. It turned out I saved too much, so should have pushed harder on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m 3s
Comments:

Pretty good, just took bike shoes off but forgot my bib number so had to return for it.
What would you do differently?:

Don't forget bib number.
Run
  • 1h 07m 37s
  • 8 miles
  • 08m 27s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

I sprinted into the finish line showing there was a lot of energy left and I could realistically have aimed at a 1h 2 min time for the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Drink muscle milk and some bananas.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inadequate planning of the energy for the run. Pace myself too easily.

Event comments:

This is a real jewel, the swim is truly unique, the vistas amazing and the participants and crew are incredible. Will race again if I can.

Performance: Below average
Suit: Full suit
Course: The start was real scary as we had to push through the coral and I had to remind guys behind me not to jump on me. The weather was picture perfect, the ocean like glazed glass with almost no waves. I am a slow swimmer and did not sight properly and despite aiming at the Sutro towers all the time the current almost took me westward of the exit at SF Yacht Club.
