Total Time = 1h 12m 17s
Overall Rank = 9/76
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 1/9
Pre-race routine:

Ate bagel w/p'nut butter and a coke.
Drove to race site.
Event warmup:

Got in the pool just in time to hear "Clear the pool".
No warm-up.
Swim
  • 04m 49s
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

I am disappointed with this swim. It felt "ok", but the time is way slower than my workout swims - don't get it.
What would you do differently?:

The seeding in pool swims is always so iffy. Catching and passing folks is a pain.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

T1 went pretty smoothly until I got on the bike....I had the worst time clipping in. Not sure what my issue was.
Bike
  • 40m
  • 12 miles
  • 18.00 mile/hr
Comments:

First two loops went well. Avg 20 - good for me.
The "little" incline on the second half of the loop got to me midway through the second loop. Suffered on the last two loops.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Took a few extra seconds to take a breath
What would you do differently?:

I'm ok with this one
Run
  • 25m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was going ok, my legs were suffering from the bike but I knew I could run it off. At the turnaround on the run the run course crosses over the bike course. As I came to that point I got confused as I couldn't tell if the "flag guy" was waving at me or the bikers. I became very concerned with the bikers approaching and while watching them (didn't want to get run over) I lost control of my feet and they got tangled up. I went flying through the air...yep, airborne. I land flat on the pavement. I just lay there...in total amazement of what just happened...also afraid to move because of the bikers going by. Knees and palms took the worst of it. Got up and finished up the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not trip......what a goof!

BTW - it was right in front of my hubby, kids, and friends hubby :)
I think they were so shocked my hubby didn't even get pictures.
Post race
Warm down:

Washed off my bloody knees & hands, walked around and found my family, cheered in my friend. Knees are in bad shape (bloody & swollen)!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The race felt ok, but I am disappointed with my times.

Event comments:

This is a nice race, but it could be so much more
