For my first OWS I did not want to come in last in my age group. I knew I was in the back of the pack and when I saw the same color cap doing breast stroke in front of me sprinted to the beach! Not last in my age group!
What would you do differently?:

Gone out faster w/ less kicking and kept a higher pace.

Forget about rain and leave helmet on bars w/o a bag over it.

Overall I moved quick through the transition but it takes a bit to get shoes off and on.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster with bike to transition. Try clipping out of shoes while on bike.

Even though I practiced bricks this was tougher than I expected since I felt so good on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Pick up pace at start of race and practice, practice bricks.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

While I wasn't nervous at all I didn't want to bonk and probably didn't push as hard as I could.

Event comments:

Very well organized and safe race. Course was well marked and not confusing at all. Lake was pleasant to swim in. Transition was very orderly - I wonder how other races will size up to my first one?
