Swim
Comments: I was feeling much more confident about my swim coming into this race, but it is still pretty bad. I just can't get my breathing under control during a race. I have no problem swimming in the pool or open water, but once I get hit, bumped, or splashed once during the race, it is all over. What would you do differently?: just going to keep swimming. Keep getting stronger and stick with it. Honestly thinking about having someone during train go along side me while swimming and smack me around or something. Going to figure this out Transition 1
Comments: This was my first time trying to keep my shoes on the pedals, and it went pretty good. I didn't do a full on flying mount, but sort of stopped got one leg on the bike and pushed off with the other. What would you do differently?: Just try and do everything a little quicker. Bike
Comments: This was a fun bike course. It was hilly, but it was fun. i was really trying to pace myself on the bike so I had something left on the run. I might have left a little out there on the bike. Spun up the hills instead of hammering up them. I got stuck behind some slower cyclists doing the HIM but once the courses split, I was one my own for most of the race. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder. I was pretty happy with 19.4 mph on that course. Transition 2
Comments: This was my big oops of the day. Everything went real smooth until I was just out of T2 at the water station and realized I had left my race number behind. Had to run back and get it. Probably cost me about a minute on the run. What would you do differently?: Put on the race belt... Run
Comments: I was feeling pretty strong on the run. The uphill the whole way out was pretty tiring but after making the turn around, was feeling really good. My girlfriend commented about how much better I looked compared to my previous races on the run. Assuming it took me about a minute to go back and get my race belt, that would put my pace just below 9:00/mi which far and away better than any run I did last year. What would you do differently?: Again I think that I could have pushed a little harder. Still felt like I had some gas in the tank at the finish. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water, a cold towel, and waited for my girlfriend to finish. Then hung around for the AG awards (girlfriend won her AG) and then watched the HIM. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim. Still a lot of work to do there. Pacing. I think I could have pushed the bike a little harder and maybe the run too. Event comments: This was a great well organized event. Lots of volunteers and the course was clearly marked. Finished dead in the middle of my age group so overall I am pretty happy but I know I can do better. Last updated: 2010-04-21 12:00 AM

Got up real early since we drove down from Atlanta. Left the house around 4:00 am with some oatmeal, a banana, and some coffee.
Light jog down the beach, and a little swim while waiting for the HIM race to go off.
