Pre-race routine:

coffee, as always.
Event warmup:

walk around looking for porta-pottie.
Swim
  • 28m 32s
  • 1600 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Very Happy with the swim! This is always my worst discipline, and I was hoping for less than 35 mins. Killed it!
What would you do differently?:

Just need to figure out how to not get stuck in so much traffic/kicking. (if there is a way)
Transition 1
  • 03m 35s
Comments:

Being my first Olympic, I decided not to go too crazy and take my time getting everything right.
What would you do differently?:

nada.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 14s
  • 26.4 miles
  • 20.51 mile/hr
Comments:

felt like I could have been faster if I had ridden more this month. My Glutes/Butt and quads were burning more than normal. Definitely the same way I feel when I haven't been riding.
What would you do differently?:

train on bike more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

pretty good transition. Didn't feel like I was mentally tack sharp on what I needed to do.
Found myself standing there for a few seconds to make sure I didn't forget anything.
Also took 10 seconds or so to stretch my legs before starting the run.
What would you do differently?:

nothing really.
Run
  • 52m 8s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

I was hoping to be a bit faster on the run, but I'm happy with it. My first competitive 10K, and under 8.5 minute miles. Thats cool with me.
Post race
Warm down:

cold facecloths on head! Thank you race directors!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing but myself. (and ok, a little bit the swim traffic.)

Event comments:

First things first. I LOVED this race and will definitely be doing it again next year.
I have two small gripes.
1. I'm kind of pissed off that they didn't have the sized t shirt I signed up for. I mean come on,
put the schwag bags together ahead of time with the t shirts people ordered instead of putting them together on the fly. Now I have a great T shirt that is too small for me to ever wear.
2. Little bummed at the lack of recovery stuff (protein drinks etc.), after the race. Definitely not a super big deal, but I think we've all come to expect them. I would have brought something of my own if I knew they weren't going to have any sponsors on hand.
