Swim
Comments: I really struggled with the swim, reason being myself and my friend who i was racing with were in the same wave and we were drawn in the same lane, i was 1st and he was 2nd, so instead of settling into my rythem at the end of every length i was looking up to see if he waqs catching me, which he was, as a result i was not relaxed and did not get my breathing in order, but he pushed me so hard, i clocked up a 7.45 for a 400m swim, thats brilliant for me. What would you do differently?: Not be in the same lane as a friend Transition 1
Comments: I wear socks, struggled to get them on, also my cycling shoes are lace ups, i lost serious time with these. I had to hang my helmet on a peddle as it was really windy and there was no rack space to hang it on the handlebars. as a result it got stuck and i could not get it off. What would you do differently?: do i buy some velcro race shoes, i think i will, also not hang hat on peddles ever again ! Bike
Comments: I have not ridden for over 3 weeks before my 10 mile ride yesterday, i did not feel as fit as i did when i raced in april, this is due to the injuries i have had for the past 3 weeks stopping me from running or riding. I struggled for the whole ride basically but i am not beating myself up about it as i knew i was not fit. What would you do differently?: Train more, and ride the route, it was not a pleasent route. Transition 2
Comments: forgot to take hat off again ! What would you do differently?: take hat off sooner and not forget i got it on ! Run
Comments: was happy with the run, especially as i have not run for 3 weeks except i run on wednesday, it was xcountry for most of the race, and we were running where horses ride, as a result the track was very uneven and quite uncomfortable. also at 8k there were some steps, about 60 of them, after climbing these it took me a min or 2 to get back into running, What would you do differently?: train more. Post race
Warm down: Colapsed, ate and drank water, then had shower. a chat with friends there and then came home to cook dinner and watch the F1. What limited your ability to perform faster: I played rugby 3 weeks ago, got injured, then played again, got injured again as a result i only swam for the past 3 weeks, and run once and biked once, so i knew i was not fit for this race and treated it more as a training sesh. so i am not beating myself up about it. i will get fit again, it will only take a week or 2 Event comments: good race for 1st timers, Last updated: 2010-04-23 12:00 AM

This was a 4pm race start, i was in the 4.40pm wave, quite late in the day. So for breakfast at 11am i had 3 rashers of bacon and 2 poached eggs on toast (brown), up to the start of the race i also ate, 2 bananas, a muffin.
None, swung arms about beside the pool
