Swim
Comments: Decent swim, the first 200y were really rough getting to the 1st bouy, lots of wrestling for position. There was a 150y run to the pad, time in water was better than this. What would you do differently?: Nothing, hung in there and got through Transition 1
Comments: Transition was good but very wet from rain. Took a few minutes to get settled, once going I was flying well. What would you do differently?: Nothing, getting on bike and going needs practice at the start Bike
Comments: Really made this race all about the bike, it payed off. I had what I consider a good ride. One turn I missed my gear change and lost momentum, but I hammered the 2nd half and passed many. I was really pleased with the bike today. What would you do differently?: keep the same Transition 2
Comments: Had a strong transition, I was shocked to see only 5-6 bikes racked before me, I must have passed many in the lake and on the bike since I was wave 2. It felt good to be in the front leader pack on the course, thus the whoo-hoo's and cheering coming into transition. Had a spectacular jump off the bike and dash to the rack. What would you do differently?: nada. Run
Comments: I did not execute the last 1.5 miles all that great, I could have pushed harder looking back. I thought I was in the "home stretch" when I saw the parking lot so I "kicked", only to find another 3/4 mi to go, yikes. Still, ran well on a very mud packed technical trail run in rough conditions. What would you do differently?: nothing really, I have been working to get back to short course foot speed since the marathon, man I lost a lot of foot speed for endurance. The course was a messy slop, so I am very ok with the technical side of this run. Post race
Warm down: Sat in the lake and spoke with the guys who came in, it was very humid so the lake felt very nice. Post race lunch was great, and the awards ceremony were handled nicely. What limited your ability to perform faster: Conditions. Event comments: Two items for improvement, more run course water (add a 2nd station) and please put out mile markers, I had no idea where the finish was and kicked too early. This is still a good home town type of race Last updated: 2010-04-24 12:00 AM
