Swim
What would you do differently?: I started a bit too wide to the right and got pushed out by the crowd. Next time I'll start more to the middle, even if it's a behind the group. Transition 1
Comments: I felt better than I expected coming out of the water. When I was taking off my wetsuit my left calf cramped up, though only momentarily. I feared that might be a bad omen! Overall, though, better in transition than I've been in the past. Bike
Comments: I felt good on the ride, even when dealing with the wind. Of course I'm slow, so I got passed a lot, and I still don't know why a few people feel the need to pass within inches when no one else is near us, but I expected it this time. What would you do differently?: I had a good base built up for this distance, but I now need to work on getting faster. I don't want to continue to be one of the slowest riders on the course. So, I need to train smarter and train harder. Transition 2
Comments: When I started to run with the bike I realized I was in trouble. Run
Comments: I hit the wall immediately. I just had nothing left in my legs and had to do a walk/run combination for the entire distance, with more walk than run. I'm actually surprised I wasn't even slower. My entire focus was making sure I got to the finish. What would you do differently?: I didn't run enough, and I knew it. I underestimated how fatigued I'd be after the swim and bike. Post race
Warm down: Hospitality tent. What limited your ability to perform faster: Me! Lack of adequate training. Event comments: I've got to step up my training if I'm going to continue to do this race. I don't want to continue to finish this far back in the pack. Last updated: 2010-04-26 12:00 AM

Up at 4:30 am. Had some oatmeal and half a bagel with peanut butter.
We didn't get to transition until 6:20 am so by the time we finally got to the swim start there wasn't much time for warm-ups.
