![]() Swim
Comments: 1:50 of swim time was from beach to tranisition area. Started the swim a little nervous with 100 hundred or so people in the same wave I figured there would be a lot of contact. I was pretty accurate in my thought process. The swim did not go well for me. My breathing was bad and I never could seem to get in a solid rhythm. What would you do differently?: Start to the outside of the wave and establish swim rhythm as soon as possible. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Transition went well. I didn't have any trouble getting my shoes on and got out fairly quickly. What would you do differently?: Could have went a little harder. ![]() Bike
Comments: Started out the bike in a bad mood because I felt like I performed so badly on the swim. Spent the first 2 miles of the ride finding a good pace. At about the 2 mile mark I found about 3 other people going at a good comfortable pace that I tried to stick with for the rest of the ride. Since my computer quick working at mile 1 I had no idea how fast I was going but figured these 3 looked to be going at a good pace. We made sure to not get close enough to each other to be drafting but it seemed liked we were just passing each other back and forth about the next 8 miles. At mile 10 of the ride one guy started to pull away so I figured I would try and stay with him. This turned out to be a bad idea. At about mile 11 my right calf started cramping up. I couldn't figure out why since it has never done that before and I drank more water on this ride than I normally do. Anyways got back to the transition and turned out I was right at my goal pace for this race. What would you do differently?: Not sure. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Had a descent T2 got my socks and shoes on pretty quickly. What would you do differently?: Test running with no socks ![]() Run
Comments: My run was horrible. As I mentioned above my right calf was cramping on the last part of the bike and it continued on the run. It was bad enough on the first mile that I had to stop and try to stretch a little. I walked the aid stations at mile 1 and 2 which must of helped because I ran the last mile in about 7:15/mile. Which just further frustrated me that I was able to do the last mile with no cramps and at the pace I was hoping to maintain the whole run. What would you do differently?: Figure out why I was cramping ![]() Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and gatorade. Then walked around a bit What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramping. If anyone has some suggestions to limit cramping let me know. Event comments: Excellent race and hope to be back next year to finish the HIM. Last updated: 2010-04-26 12:00 AM
