Swim
Comments: I had to say I thought I personally did well, I did get kicked and bumped into , the swimming was a weak spot for me but I swam free style till the fourth lap when I swam on my side with one arm extended then caught my breath and swam the last lap better, I realzie that in thescheme of other peoples 3,4 and5 minute swim I was like a tortoise but I will take it the time and improve Transition 1
Comments: I did drink some gatorade and took a quick gel, put on socks and running sneakers as I did not use the bike shoes What would you do differently?: I will have my bike shoes on next one so I can take off goggles , put on shirt and hop on bike Bike
Comments: Once again I was disappointed in the bike, I was averaging under 40m in traing, however with the t1 time added to bike and having my chain slip off and dismounting I did not reach my goal ove getting under 40m. It was some wonderful downhills that were thrilling scary to be going so fast What would you do differently?: Do more hills , get more knowledgeable of the shifting gears smoothly and just plain ol get out on the road more and have a purpose in my training Transition 2
Comments: This was smooth, just get the helmet off and leave the glasses on, I already had my bib number attached to singlet. another quick gel and asip of water and i was off What would you do differently?: maybe have some water just to throw on my head to cool me off Run
Comments: My calves were just cramping at this point, never felt anything like it,I have not finshed a 5k in over 30m since my first year of running now it was over 40m. but I took it as I had no other choice, I tried a slow jog but the calved would stop me, and the shin splints too,at the first water stop i just ran pole to pole andwalk to the next, etc, that worked and I just gradually got my legs back but by that time it was a painful way to finish, finally about mile 2 i was able to "run" the rest of the way What would you do differently?: Due to a running injury while doing the Stu's 30k in march my running has been almost non existant, which is why my shins were burning, I just have to run 2 or 3 miles more often and get my leg back under me Post race
Warm down: Just drank plenty of fluid and went home and had a good lunch What limited your ability to perform faster: I think the bike was pretty tough which affected my run more than I thought, I wanted to finish under 80 minutes but I finshed in 96m, I however just felt as painful as it was it was also alot of fun too, After running several marathons I felt this was challenging for me and I look forward to improving in the biking and running for my next tri in July Event comments: I know I finished near last place but I am happy to at least attempted , sprint tri's are harder than I thought they would be, biking up hills is way tougher than running up a hill to me. and the sensation of running after biking was like the last miles of a marathon to me. Although I was nearly last I I know My running abilities were questionable so I am glad to just have to gotten through it, i enjoyed myself Last updated: 2010-04-26 12:00 AM

I arrived a little after 6 to make sure I could take my time getting rganized in the transition areas. This was my first triathlon and I was very nervous.
I was bib 202 so in our little rack area we w quickly bonded as we were all first timers
I did no warm up, being there so early I tried to find places to sit and relax as opposed to being on my feet. Our band of beginners walked as a group to the in and outs of the bike and run and swim areas.
