Swim
Comments: Bad swim for me. Had to start in the last wave and then make my way through hundreds of slower swimmers from the earlier waves. They were not just breast and backstroking but going left and right all over the place. I had to sight with every other stroke or so, hardly got into a rhythm and kept bumping into people. What would you do differently?: Nothing I could have done about it. Transition 1
Comments: Somehow managed to get the strap from the wetsuit zipper stuck inside the leg when I was taking the suit off. Had my heel stuck in leg because of strap. Weird. Also T1 went slow because I had trouble getting my feet clean enough to put the shoes on. My transition spot was right on a dirt patch on the grass. Wiped feet with towel but still had lots of stuff in shoes the whole time. Didn't put socks on today so that saved some time. What would you do differently?: Seems like every time I take the suit off recently I get something else stuck somewhere. Need to practice more. Bike
Comments: I actually liked the course much more than I had thought. All the turns and hills and crowds made me pay full attention and the ride seemed much shorter that way. Never got into a lull or even thought about my RPE. Just kept pushing hard. First race on the road bike. Not as fast as the tri bike but okay with all the cornering. I've also been training on this bike all winter, so it deserved to experience a race! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Ride went well. Transition 2
Comments: I need new bike shoes. The top zipper was stuck on both! Took extra contortions to get the bike shoes off. But saved time getting into running shoes because I didn't wear socks today. Run
Comments: Ran the whole time, only walked at the two last aid stations. As far as I know only one woman from my AG passed me on the run. That's new! This is the fastest 5K in a sprint tri I've run, as far as I remember. Post race
Warm down: Thought I had to throw up for a minute, stood in finish area, bent over. Then slowly walked on and got some water. Stomach settled down quickly after that. It did behave well overall today. :) Event comments: Fun race, will do it again, didn't even miss the guys until one woman said she was afraid to do a co-ed tri... I told her there were male butts to look at, otherwise it's pretty much the same thing. Last updated: 2010-04-28 12:00 AM
