Swim
Comments: This was a poor swim for me. I started off great. Quickly got a side cramp, started not turning far enough for breaths, and swallowing water. Then everybody was swimming so far right of the buoy line I started worrying I was not sighting correctly, rolled on my back to clear my goggles and then do a long sight. Turns out everybody was just swimming far right of the buoy line. Then my waves green caps were so similar to the yellow caps two waves ahead, that it became hard to tell who to swim around and who was just ahead of me to draft off. What would you do differently?: Calm down early on and not let early water swallowing get to me. It freaked me out and definitely affected my swim. Transition 1
Comments: I got a fairly bad rack location, farthest from the bike start/finish. Turned out okay as I ran well with the bike. Oh and the run from the swim to T1 was very long! What would you do differently?: Calm down, the swim really got to me and I was still freaking out in T1. Bike
Comments: This was an awesome (!!!) bike course. So much fun. The climbs were not bad and the downhills were very fast. My Garmin said I maxed at 46.5 mph. Definitely saw a couple people who had wrecked. I planned and executed a hard pace on all flat and downhill with easy spinning on uphills, this turned out well. Fun fun fun course!! What would you do differently?: Go harder in the first 10 miles. Otherwise nothing, great ride, fastest avg for me yet. Transition 2
Comments: I could use some practice with this transition, but did a good job for something I have yet to work the kinks out of this year. I should have put on socks for the run... What would you do differently?: Put on my socks instead of going sockless, got some blisters on the run. Run
Comments: It got hot on the run. I tried to keep a good pace, but easy for the first 5k and kick it into gear for the last two miles. Wasn't sure how much gas I'd have left for the end of the race. Fun course and cool to see everybody on the course (including road rash guy who I played leap frog with on the bike, he took a spill, tore up his left shoulder and still finished the race strong!). What would you do differently?: Take the entire last 5k harder. Otherwise nothing. Raced well for the first time at this distance without knowing the course. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank water and gatorade. Cheered on my sister's friend as she finished. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not doing bringing the aerobars again (seems to be a trend for me...). Need to practice those and see if that helps my bike avg. Event comments: So many volunteers!! A great race with an awesome bike course. Will definitely do this again! Last updated: 2010-04-28 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4am, grabbed half a bagel and cream cheese, packed the car and headed out to caravan the hour and 15 minutes up to Loveland. Quite the early morning.
Checked in, set up transition and headed down to the water. Chatted with a friend of my sister's who was racing in my AG while waiting for the race to start. Walked into the water just to check the temp and then prepped to start.
