Swim
Comments: This was my best swim ever. I did everything my friend Tom K. told me to do as far as getting in water before swim and getting used to temp and calming myself down as I have panic attacks when I'm in the water. Kept chanting his mantra "I'm not going to drown and nothing is going to eat me" and by the time the horn went off I was ready. Had my face in the water the entire time and crawled except for a few breaststrokes for sighting and rests. I'm a slow swimmer and was getting passed right and left by the waves behind me and that's ok I accept it, but at least I was a slow swimmer who was not panicking and did not exhaust herself. This was a breakthru swim for me. What would you do differently?: Now that I think I have the panic thing down I will work on speed drills and sighting. Transition 1
Comments: Could not get my wetsuit off then got frustrated and could not get my bike shoes on. I was rushing and did not put near enough glide on my legs and arms. What would you do differently?: Get to event earlier so not rushing when putting on suit and not using enough glide. Bike
Comments: Did not get a chance to adjust my front brakes when put on front tire due to how rushed I was setting up and when riding thought I was flatting out due to sound then realized it was my front brake rubbing. Could not adjust it while riding so just unhooked them. Made a big difference and started to move a little faster. What would you do differently?: Once again get there earlier so everything including bike is in good shape. Also need to get on bike more. I'm not as strong on the bike as I would like. More time on trainer and actually on the road. I do think the MB biking is helping my climbing though. Transition 2
Comments: This transition was much smoother. Run
Comments: Running is my strengh being I'm MOP at best. Was fun, passed many of the people that passed me like I was standing still during swim and ride. When I left transition area I started running the wrong way and some lady, not even sure if she was a volunteer yelled at me to run towards her, thank you very much whoever you were. Also, when I started running a gal from Pac West who was already finished (of course) said "good job" and I told her that my feet were numb. She just laughed and said "yep, keep going". What would you do differently?: I was happy with run overall but think I should do some bricks so used to running off of bike. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank from the water bottle they gave us. Went and got some Fluid from the Fluid guy. Then ate and left. What limited your ability to perform faster: Getting lost then the parking and racking bike drama really affected my set-up. Basically I ran to transition area from car, threw everything out of my bag, put suit on and ran to start wave. I will factor in time for all contingencies in the future. If I get there early oh well I will just sit in car and sleep or whatever. Event comments: This was a really fun race despite the start (getting parked and from car) difficulties. I heard that the reservoir had more water than anticipated and took out a lot of the parking. It would be nice if they enlarged the transition area or put the pros and elites somewhere else. Hell they have their own wave so it's not like having their transition area closer to the water is going to affect anyone not in that group. Also, they ran out of beer. I know should not matter but I was really looking forward to that beer! Last updated: 2010-04-29 12:00 AM

None, got lost getting there then the parking was a nightmare and racking my bike was about impossible as it was so crowded so not much time for any routine. I was putting on wetsuit as they were calling us to start our waves. A bit stressful but worked out.
Except for padding around the water a bit, none.
