Event warmup:

Had planned on having enough time for a full, run, bike, swim warm-up - but with all the registration crazyness, only had time for a short 5 minute run.
Swim
  • 14m 20s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

A bit of a crazy swim, kept having guys stop in front of me to look where they were going and guys kept V'ing in front of me so i couldn't get by.
What would you do differently?:

Go for a much faster start to get the heck out of the crowd.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

About 100 yds after the timing gate is where the bike mount is, as i was about to get on my bike i notice my Computer is Gone! Fuckitall! Shit! so like a dumbass, i drop my bike and follow my path back to the timing gate looking for my comptuer. About half way i decide, i'm probably not going to find it, head back to my bike and go.
What would you do differently?:

I think the computer got knocked loose when i unracked my bike - so try not to hit the computer on the rack and check to make sure it's on after unracking.
Bike
  • 35m 54s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.71 mile/hr
Comments:

Should not have tried to pass people on the hills. I would have been better off just dropping a gear and staying with them, then getting by them at the top of the hill.
What would you do differently?:

Practice hills, try to have a more consistent pace on the hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

My calves and sides were cramping when i got off of the bike, so i was having enough trouble walking never mind running.
What would you do differently?:

Drink less pre-race. I think i over-hydrated, it was very humid, that could have had something to do with it to.
Run
  • 32m 36s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

This was bad. I was cramping coming off the bike, so i started out real slow, immediately went up a hill, couldnt' speed up any from there. Finally got to a flat stretch where i could loosen up a bit. I probably could have pushed harder, but i wasn't sure how far was left and i didn't want to have to start walking.
What would you do differently?:

Not drink as much pre-race. Not push so hard on the bike, especially at the end.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much of a warm down, i did stretch a little while i was having my complentary Michelob Ultra.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I really wasn't feeling my best going into this race. My stomach was bothering me a little bit. I also think i got a little stressed out with the registration process. It took much longer than it should have (twice) and it didn't leave me much time to warm up. I drank about a half a bottle of gatorade on the ride up - i'll just have water next time and not as much. See how that works out.

Event comments:

For a mid-week mini-sprint training race - they have all of the bases covered. They had police directing traffic at the intersections, plenty of volunteers on the course directing us where to go. It's a very well organized race.

Course: Course was hilly! 2 loops around, second loop i was much more prepared for the length of the hills and when they were coming up. It's a tough course, a couple of steep hills at the end of longer smaller inclines, so you have no momentum going into them. I did pretty well timewise, especially after the computer mishap. But i think i pushed a little too hard and wasn't a consistent enought climber.

Course: Hills! A couple of very steep ones. The course follows some of the same root as the bike course, but it cuts through this mountain or something where you go way up then way down a steep hill, two of them! Not a fan of running down steep hills on the road. I'd rather do that on a trail.
