Pre-race routine:

Night before I we ate Justin's favorite pre-race meal, Hobo meal. Packed up my gear and packed for vacation since we where leaving shortly after the race.
Got up early around 4:45 AM. Took a bath and shaved. Ate chex. Got food together for the kids to eat later, loaded up the kids. Justin loaded the bike and bag in the van.
Event warmup:

After getting signed in and transistion area together. I walked around a bit with the family and chatted with Cori. Stretched a little before the meeting and walking down to the lake as a group.
Swim

Comments:

Thought my swim was good. Then I looked at my pace and it is slow.
Started out fast to get ahead of the group. Was the first out of the water in my heat. After rounding the bouy and coming back the sun was in my eyes and navigation to the shore was tough. Plus I knew I was passing few women from the heat before so I was tring to watch for them. That slowed me down some.

Jogged from lake to TI took 1 minute. Was bit shacky getting the shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Work on putting on my shoes. Drink more.

Really not happy with myself. Didn't realize until the end that I cut the bike short. Was going for the full 6 miles and instead of going around 4 times, I went around 3. In my mind, 3 is what I need to going around. Found out at the end when Justin told me that I cut it short. Really bummed with my self. But felt I did really on the bike. Passed many people on the bike and only 2 passed me. One of those two I ended passing later.
What would you do differently?:

Pay more attention to the distance. Work on turns and slowing down.

Started out ok. They had a drink station right at the beginning of the run. Didn't need a drink at that time as I had my own at transition. Could not get my breathing down. Ended up walking at the 1/2 mile mark to try to get my breath back. That first 1/2 mile and the last 1/2 mile seemed very long. They did not have a water station at the 1 mile turn around. I could have really used a drink at that point as the sun was on you the whole run. It was hot. As expected I was passed by many.
What would you do differently?:

keep working on running. Drink more.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around. Was very dehydrated. Justin went to get my water bottle. Drank that (before Izzy took it from me) and felt better.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The run.

Event comments:

This ask me the overall course based on my ability...will that depends. I would have loved the swim to be longer. The bike and run was just right.
