Swim
Comments: I've only swam in a pool (alone) before this race, and I was totally unprepared for the open water with people all around thing. I essentially burned all my energy in the first 150m jockeying for position and fending off attackers. I have alot of work and practicing ahead. What would you do differently?: Become a stronger swimmer, practice open water more. Transition 1
Comments: I was very winded from the swim, but managed a jog to the bike corral. Transition went fairly well except I wasted nearly a minute trying to get my shirt over my wet torso (would not slide down). What would you do differently?: Swim with a tri top next time or bike shirtless. Bike
Comments: deliberately took it easy for about 3 miles to catch my breathe from the swim. Then settled in my planned pace (~18.5mph). There were alot of really fast bikers out there, but I let them fly on by. What would you do differently?: I should have drank more water in T1. Also need to practice getting my shoes in the stirrups at the start. Transition 2
Comments: Went pretty well. I biked with my running shoes, so I pretty much just had to ditch my bike and helmet and be on my way. Run
Comments: Running is more my forte, but I was really surprised at how long it took me to shake the bike legs and get into a good running rhythm (nearly a mile). First mile ~8:44. Finally loosed up into the second mile and on. Managed a pretty strong finish with a little energy to spare. Post race
Warm down: Drank alot of water and just meandered the grounds abit. Enjoyed the great breakfast and the DosXX was a bonus. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience and a poor swimmer Event comments: Great race, perfect for rookies. Last updated: 2010-05-04 12:00 AM

My first tri ever! Not sure what to expect. Got there extra early.
I typically don't warm up much before I swim, but I did a short jog just to burn off nervousness.
