Run
Comments: The run was not too good. I was beat from last weekend's triathlon, but was secretly wanting to go hard. I told myself to take it easy, that I was not rested enough to go fast. I told myslef to just run what felt good. Started out great was cruising through the first 5 miles or so and even a big uphill at mile 8 didn't faze me. By 10 or so, my quads were already hurting and I was thinking that it might be a long second half of the race. Sure enough, by mile 16 or so I was dying. My quads hurt with each step, I felt like i was already at mile 23 or so. I resigend myself to the fact that I would run between each mile marker from 16 on. By 19 I was trying to only stop once between each mile marker, and by 23, I was trying to make it the 3-4 miutes of each song on the ipod and them walking a bit between songs. I made it through, but it was ugly. Running the first half relatively effortlessly in 1:40 was nice. I'll have to see how long I can hold that pace on fresh legs. What would you do differently?: Nothing. 2 marathons in the 10 weeks prior to this and an olympic distance triathlon last weekend is not a good taper. Post race
Warm down: walked around the food area- you have to love free Ben and Jerry's and beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Too much on my legs already this spring Event comments: This was a very well done race. Everything went very smoothly. All of the volunteers and staff were great. More spectator support than I have ever seen, it was amazing. The entire city comes out and supports it. Last updated: 2010-05-05 12:00 AM
