Overcast
Total Time = 1h 35m 18s
Overall Rank = 75/108
Age Group = 40 - 49
Age Group Rank = 10/13
Pre-race routine:

Ate a couple of bananas, cup of coffee - went to get marked and just got organized (did a short 200m swim in the lake the night before - excellent idea!)

Swim
  • 10m 1s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m / 100 meters
Comments:

Pretty good swim, just tried to relax and breath - took in a bit of water once, but otherwise, the swim was just head down and go.. didn't push too hard as didn't want to get hyperventilating like last year, and the swim was in the range of what I hoped.
What would you do differently?:

Now that I'm feeling a little more confident and see where I ended, I'd probably go harder from the front next time
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Fairly slow and relaxed in T1 - no problem getting suit off - legs a little shaky, but no major problems, slipped shoes on, walked to mounting area and off..
What would you do differently?:

Maybe run to mounting area.. bare feet next time in my cycle shoes?
Bike
  • 51m 19s
  • 20 kms
  • 23.38 km/hr
Comments:

Fairly relaxed, could have probably have pushed harder, was trying to save some for my run
What would you do differently?:

Push harder - keep higher average speed.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again - fairly relaxed in transition - no major problems - used speed laces - very nice addition
What would you do differently?:

Run in and out of transition?
Run
  • 34m
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 48s  min/km
Comments:

Again - the weakest part of my tri by far - see ranking :( - but, on the up side, improved by almost 10 min. - still really slow relatively, but from 43:49 to 34:00 - very good for me. Also, consider that I really felt like I had no legs 100m into the run. All in all, a good news/bad news result - much better, but clearly still so much work needed in the run.
What would you do differently?:

Need lots of more work in the run, simple as that.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, eat some fruit, followed by hot-tub

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hmm... about 40 lbs. of weight, lack of time on the run training, and probably pushing a little harder on the bike.

Event comments:

This is the only event I've ever been to, but I would have a hard time finding fault with it - very good people, beautiful setting - a definite thumbs up!
