Swim
Comments: Windy with waves. Two good aspects about this course is the initial outbound segment (usually into the wind) is shorter than the segment after the first turn that kind of runs parallel to the beach. The second is that it is plenty wide and fairly easy to find your own space if you want. I usually swim a little wide and rarely have had a problem with getting kicked or bumped. Transition 1
Comments: A little bit of a long run from the beach to the transition area. Bike
Comments: This is a tuff course for me. I just can't seem to generate the speed that I would like on some of the segments. That being said it is one of my favorite courses and I really like the challenge. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2. I like the layout with the bike in/out on one end and the run out on the other. Run
Comments: A run course that is more challenging than you would guess. The first mile is slightly uphill followed by the second mile with lot's of turns and hills and then back down the slight downhill in mile three. The finish area is in an open grassy area that spectators line both sides to the finish line which is always makes the dash to the finish line more fun. Post race
Warm down: Hung around for a while cheering and chatting then headed home before the awards ceremony. Tough to keep my four and five year olds attention for such a long time after the race. Event comments: Fun race, a little less organized this year than previous years but I definitely recommend this one. Last updated: 2010-05-11 12:00 AM

PB&j for breakfast with sports drink. Met up with a friend and my daughter in the parking lot at Ames Arena and headed to the transition area. On the way to get body marked saw Bikergrrl and introduced myself. It is fun to meet some of the other BT'ers.
Short swim to make sure the goggles didn't leak and get the blood flowing.
