Swim
Comments: 880 yards isn't as far as it looks. I felt pretty good and I freestyled for most of the swim and only breast stroked when I got close to someone and wasn't exactly sure what they were going to do. My left calf started to cramp up towards the end when I realized I had a lot of energy left and tried to pick up the pace a little. I had hoped to get out of the water under 20 minutes and I did...I probably could have even made it out under 18 if I had tried harder. What would you do differently?: Not hold back so much. Transition 1
Comments: My shoes were my biggest hurdle and I was trying to get my heart rate down from running into the TA. Gotta work on that. :) Bike
Comments: The rain came about mile 9 of the bike for me and didn't stop. Handle bars are slippery when it's wet. :) What would you do differently?: Need to not hold back so much and stop the whole being psyched out thing because of doing something I haven't done before such as that many hills in one ride. Whatever...I'll get through it is what I should have been saying. Transition 2
Comments: Much better, but need to work on it. Run
Comments: I lallygagged for most of the run and could have totally pushed myself harder even though my HR was already in the high 160s. I have no idea why I didn't, maybe I was having too much fun or something. What would you do differently?: Push harder. No reason I should have crossed the finish line with all my breath and joking with the kid handing out the medals. Post race
Warm down: Walked back to my car with a mile cool down and pouring down rain. What limited your ability to perform faster: My head. Event comments: Parking sucked, but not sure what you could do about it. Results were up FAST! Very cool! http://results.active.com/pages/searchform.jsp#hot_links Last updated: 2010-05-11 12:00 AM

Swam a couple yards, walked around a bit and since we were nearly a mile from parking to the starting area, I rode my bike there. Met Lora from BT and we were in the same wave so we chatted to cool our nerves a little. I usually don't start getting nervous until I'm actually minutes from the start of the race since I don't actually believe I'll be doing it until I'm...well...actually getting ready to do it. It's the same feeling I used to have at track days with my sportbike. :)
