Swim
Comments: This was my first OWS. It was difficult at times to keep away from others during the swim portion. It took some extra energy that I did not expect to expend to fight my way to each bouy. Took a small rest at 400 yard bouy to regain my confidence and some much needed rest too. Put my head back down and finished the swim leg of the race. This was also my longest swim too (in a race). I liked it better than my 1st tri which was in a heated pool. Felt more gassed in that on than in the OWS. What would you do differently?: More practice in OW but overall I did pretty well. Again, I am new at this stuff and every race and every training session is a learning experience. Transition 1
Comments: Difficult T1 with removing a wet suit and trying to get ready for the bike. I am not as concerned as others may be to kill it in transition. It will improve over time. What would you do differently?: Run from swim to bike T1. Walked as I was pulling my suit down Bike
What would you do differently?: Drank too much water on the bike and this set me up for a crappy run. I will monitor my water intake more closely next race. Every race and training session is a learning experience!!!!! Transition 2
Comments: Already had running shoes on as I do not use clips. It always works out hat I have a much faster T2 Run
Comments: Was still feeling the effects of drinking too much on the ride. Had a stitch in my right side for about the first mile. At 1/2 way point I was feeling better. What would you do differently?: I would liked to have pushed it through the side pain but let my mind do all the talking. I know I could have done better than Sullivan but instead I ran 10 seconds slower. Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and did some stretching (minimal) What limited your ability to perform faster: Drank too much water on bike course. Event comments: Could not hear pre-race instruction as the crowd was too loud and the bull horn was not loud enough. Other than that this was a great race and I intend on participating in 2011. Again, up before the alarm. Ate a light breakfast and had bottle of water. Stopped and picked upa coffee on the way to tri.
Not much time to do much as we were thrown into race after being told there was going to be a weather delay. Some stretching completed
