Swim
What would you do differently?: I took it easy on the swim in order to do better on bike and run and build progressively throughout the race. Swam faster than a year prior, feel as though fitness is better than a year prior. Current and wind was a beast. Transition 1
Comments: Could not get feet in shoes with them clipped into pedals, need to practice this. What would you do differently?: Get up to speed on a flat surface before attempting to put feet into shoes. Bike
Comments: Good bike, took it easy though in order to maintain some for the run. My bike was a full two minutes slower than a year prior. Transition 2
Comments: Need to work on transitions. Shoes continously hit the ground while trying to run to transitions. Run
Comments: Quads began to cramp as a result of effort or crank to long. Took the run slow. Although I am capable of running faster. Goal was to complete in 48 minutes. Took a gel (Hammer Rasberry) at the 3 mile mark and seemed to feel better. Need to get better at the run!! What would you do differently?: Take a gel near the end of the bike in order to set up the run. Post race
Warm down: Drank a beer and sat in the cold lake. What limited your ability to perform faster: The run. Failed this miserably again. Event comments: Good first race of the season to take inventory of my fitness. Held back on the swim and bike in order to set up the run.
