Swim
  • 42m 25s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 50s / 100 meters
Comments:

Wow, 10th %-ile. That makes me proud. :-P
What would you do differently?:

Um... learn how to swim?
Transition 1
  • 05m 48s
Comments:

OK, this looks like a ridiculous time, but it was one of the fastest on my team, and seems to be above the curve compared to those who finished near me. LOTS of people had 10 minute T1 times! This included what felt like a 1/4-mile run, half of which was in bare feet, the other 1/2 in bike shoes through the mud. Had to take time to clean the mud out from between my toes. One advantage of having all your gear soaked: wet socks actually go on wet feet easier than dry socks do!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 25s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Maintained what felt like a comfortable pace; would have guessed it was more like 16 mph. Having cheerleaders yelling "Go Team!" constantly really gets you going! Loved every minute of it.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, other than maybe doing some stretching towards the end (it kinda snuck up on me). Could have pushed harder, but my main focus was to enjoy myself, and pushing hard isn't very enjoyable!
Transition 2
  • 03m 37s
Comments:

Took my time here intentionally. My back was (as usual) stiff getting off the bike, so I walked it in to give the muscles time to loosen up.
What would you do differently?:

Strengthen my core so my back doesn't stiffen up and I can run it in.
Run
  • 56m 8s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Didn't feel heavy-legged at all coming off the bike. Maintained what felt like an easy pace; would have guessed I would come in at a little over an hour. Got passed (quite handily!) by a 71-year old man who must have started several waves behind me. Told him, "I want to be like you when I grow up!"
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around trying to find teammates. Ate burrito.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Having to go potty for the last hour!

Event comments:

A fantastic event overall- well organized, beautiful course. No bike support or porta-potties on the course, but they had everything else I could have wanted.

Performance: Bad
Didn't FEEL that slow! Course was very crowded, so probably didn't have the best rhythm/form; had to sight almost every stroke at times to keep from crashing into other swimmers. Got so bunched up at the two sharp turns that we had to tread water to sort ourselves out.
Suit: full wetsuit
Course: Out-and-back shaped like Washington Monument. ENORMOUS labeled buoys marked the course every 100m.
