Swim
Comments: Not bad considering I haven't been in a pool since my last race. Obviously I could be doing a whole lot better in this discipline though, if I can get back to swimming again. What would you do differently?: Obviously get some training in, and try to find someone to draft off of Transition 1
Comments: It took me a little too long to get my suit off, part of it may be that I forgot to grease the outside of the bottom of the suit, other than that I am doing pretty good on my transitions Bike
Comments: So, I was doing pretty good, until one of the steepest hills on the back half of the course when my freehub died. Basically I was pedaling and going no where as the whole mechanism was just slipping. I did the best I could, having to walk up all the hills, and then coast down. It was pretty frustrating as I think I would've been on the podium for my age group no problem. What would you do differently?: I probably could've pushed a little harder in the beginning, but not sure what I could've done about my mechanical problem Transition 2
Comments: Another good transition that I think ranks right up there with the fastest What would you do differently?: lubed inside of shoe better Run
Comments: I was feeling fairly good right from the beginning, and my goal was to set a PR for my 10k. I had to brush off the problems from the bike, and just push it. At about mile 2-3, I could feel a blister forming on my left foot, that just kept getting worse. Later I felt some forming on my right foot as well, but I did my best to push through all the pain. I was determined to make something of this race. I did my best to handle the pain, and ended up having a pretty good run. What would you do differently?: Lube shoes better Post race
Warm down: Took off shoes immediately, and hobbled over to help my wife with my son, who was miserable from not having me around What limited your ability to perform faster: mechanical issue on the bike, no swim training, and not enough lube in shoes Event comments: This was a really good race, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to enjoy it more. With the problems I had, and then the fact that my son was miserable, and we needed to drive 10 hours home, it took something away from the experience. Maybe next year :) Last updated: 2010-05-14 12:00 AM
