![]() Swim
Comments: I liked the 2 loop swim. The only trouble I had was sighting coming back to the entry/exit. Even with darker(blue) goggles, it was hard to spot with the sun coming up right behind the bouys. What would you do differently?: I need to push more on the swim. My race swim times are much slower than my slowest training pace. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I put my shoes on in transition again this time and I think I like it better than strapping in on-the-go. T1 was a long way from the water, so that accounts for the long time here. I joked with a few other racers that we missed the shuttle back to T1. What would you do differently?: I could have run faster down the carpeted path and can probably move a bit quicker in getting shoes, glasses and helmet on. I wasted a few seconds trying to wipe sand off my feet. ![]() Bike
Comments: I felt a little fast going out and couldn't tell if there was much wind. I found out soon enough when the course turned into it. The first lap wasn't too bad, but the second lap it picked up. I held back some on the bike this time as compared to Clear Lake in the effort to have more for the run. What would you do differently?: Don't know. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I just need to streamline a bit more. I'm a bit slow getting my socks on and still had some sand on my feet. I also burned a bit of time making sure to get my Garmin and click it into the quick release strap. ![]() Run
Comments: The run was very nice. I like the varied areas the course took. I felt pretty good in the first 4 to 5 miles. I ran between aid stations, where I walked a short way - maybe 30 seconds. The only thing was they were not evenly spread over the course. ![]() Post race
Warm down: I drank and drank and drank. Water, Gatorade, Gatorade, and then a coke. I didn't eat a thing. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just after mile 5 my left calf got really tight. Then, around mile 5.5, it began to feel like I had a pinched nerve in my right shoulder/neck. I had to run with my head cocked to the left just to continue. Event comments: Onurmark puts on great events! I very much enjoyed all 3 of theirs that I raced this year. If it weren't for the long T1, I would have PRed by about 3 minutes.
